The 2017 special edition packages for the Charger and Challenger see these former kings of the Daytona race track updated for regular everyday driving, but they are still retaining their traditional look and appeal. Dodge claims they will continue manufacturing these packages in the future as long as there is a demand.
What’s new in the Charger?
The Dodge Charger R/T model engine has been improved with a Mopar cold-air induction system that has a conical air filter. The all-new electronically controlled 2.75 active performance exhaust system comes with 4-inch round tips. Added to this is a rear differential with a 2.62 axle ratio and engine and transmission calibration with a high-speed engine controller reading 241 km/h that is up from 217 km/h. Another feature of the Dodge Charger is the hyper black finish of the wider 20-inch forged-aluminum wheels.
The Charger sedan comes with distinctive front and rear fascias, side sills, and a satin black performance spoiler. Dodge stripes and Daytona grille badging as well as the unmistakable HEMI logo hood graphic. The interior cabin sports leather and suede seats and new bezels.

The Dodge Challenger for 2017 now comes with a Uconnect infotainment system that includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay integration. Upholstery for the sports seats is in the signature Houndstooth cloth, and there are four new colours for the exterior – Yellow Jacket, Green Go, Destroyer Grey and Octane Red. There are 20-inch alloy wheels, and “Air Catcher” headlights inspired by the Challenger SRT Hellcat. You also see an illuminated steering wheel coloured in red or white. The exterior graphics on the Dodge Challenger are satin black, and there is a modified directed cold-air hood system, and a cold air induction system.

The rear-wheel-drive 2017 Dodge Challenger coupe has the closest similarity to its predecessors from the 1960s and 1970s. With the exception of the base model V6, all the variants can be paired to either a six-speed manual or an excellent eight-speed automatic transmission. There is an all-wheel-drive version only available on the GT model equipped with a V6 engine.
